Travel Journal - Készthely - day 14

day 14 15th june 2012 Abbazia Hotel, Készthely After I go home I have to get a dental checkup ASAP! I'm really getting freaked out about almost all my teeth getting really sensitive so early in life! And I love to eat!! :( Also my foot is injured badly and I have no idea how it happened. For the past two days I haven't been able to walk at all; I've been limping around like a disabled person. There's a baddass twist right below my left foot's ankle on the left of the foot and there's a slight reddish swelling. Something has gone very wrong inside - I just don't know what to do about it. I tried putting it in hot salt water and applied balm on it. Let's see if it's fine by tomorrow. I hope I don't have to go to the doc when I'm back - I wanna keep my healthy record of about 18 years. I have another goal I want to achieve - I want to go trekking. A proper trek; like the Enduro. I want to climb 12 mountains overnight and feel the exhaustio...

Plant a tree!

In one day a human being breathes oxygen equivalent to three cylinders. Each oxygen cylinder on an average costs Rs 700, so in a day one uses Oxygen worth Rs 2100 and for a full year it is Rs 7,66,500. If we consider an average life span of 65 years; the costs of oxygen we use become a staggering sum of Rs 500,00,000. All this oxygen is derived free of cost from the surrounding trees. Very few people look at trees as a resource and there is rampant tree cutting going on everywhere which should stop. PLEASE PLANT A TREE!

Allopathy n Naturopathy?

Friends, Today I learnt a new phrase from The Times of India: VEXATIOUS LITIGANT. The news item on the front page reads: "A lawyer who dragged his estranged wife ... to court in a record 115 cases has been stopped in his tracks. The HC admitted the petition ... by Maharashtra advocate general Ravi Kadam to declare Kazi a vexatious litigant." (Kazi is that lawyer fellow who has been filing 115 petitions against his wife.) I want to use this phrase. I declare Sir Vinod, Sir S Halagiri, and Sir Hemant as VEXATIOUS LITIGANTSÂ against Allopathy. And I declare Sir Arun a VEXATIOUS LITIGANTÂ against sanity in general. Cheers Sanjiv Dear Sir Bhatla, Thank you for awarding me this honorary degree (V.L.). Does it also come with a cash prize? It is not easy fighting this Goliath called Allopathy that milks all Americans (even healthy ones via taxes) to the tune of over two trillion dollars every year, most of which is worse than pure waste. My problem is that the real Mr. Allop...

Portfolio preps

After so much procrastination, I have finally started with my portfolio. Who cares if my layout sucks now, I just hope they judge me by my work. :( It's so hard to pick the best and compile it all. Hoping the time invested will be worth it.

Passing thoughts on Eating.

14th Jan 2011 We stepped in and then ordered the food. Jahnvi - the local dhaba was going to shut down. As the food came, En gobbled spoons down like Puppa. I looked at him, then looked at the food. En had a peculiar way of eating his food. I was thinking, does this guy know what's going into his mouth? Does he taste it before swallowing? I could smell the bits of spring onions at shredded chicken in fried rice, the coconut from the chicken malabari, and the butter on the roti which Tanu was eating. Vicky looked miserable eating a bland veg pulao, that had no distinct smell. "What're you looking at?" En asked. "Oh nothing." I replied, realizing it was rude to stare at people eating. I looked around to notice that none of them really looked like they were tasting it. It was funny how my brain travelled through thoughts, changing in milliseconds. Well. I guess we were just hungry.

Whiteboard of Quotes

4.12.2010 "People always go from your life to come back again." it said. The good quotes in the canteen seemed to know the inside story of everyones lives. From the time I read one of the first - "Faith is the bird that sings even when the dawn is dark", I was curious to know who wrote these quotes. It wasn't some mysetery that I had to solve. Even if it was, it wasn't hard. All I had to do was ask Manoj Bhaiyya who wrote them everyday. But somehow I didn't want to know anymore, who they came from, where they were read from, and who made them up. Somethings are best left unknown, and maybe that's why I keep the curiosity up and high, awaiting the next line that would appear on that whiteboard in the canteen. :)

The Distracted Brain.

2nd Dec 2010 Why is it that I get distracted the most only during jury time? I wrote the time on the table. More than what I was writing I watched the lines that were being drawn, the lead grazing on the texture of the table. I wrote the time.7:29 pm. I would start working right....NOW. But I got distracted by the doodle on the table. I spent 5 minutes shortening her hair in 3 layers, something that changed her personality drastically. Random thoughts flowed in my brain after I was done decorating her. She looked like she could be a character in corpsebride. I looked around. Monica Vicky and Alok were working, and here I was talking to myself. Monica's lightdisc was in her hands, and I thought - hey, you can animate anywhere. All you need is a pegbar. You don't need a light disc, or a capturing table. I thought of making many films. I thought of writing this down. And I think now, as I write this down, hey, I could make a movie out of this. Infact, if there was someone shooting...

Patience while claymating

It's the 9th day of claymation. Pressure from all sides. Backlog, jury, 2D project, portfolio, lack of assistance or support from faculty, and to top it all, lack of time to have a second go and a test that went wrong. It's not like I'm losing interest.. More like I'm losing patience. I dunno if I would really like to animate in claymation. But that's with everything I do. I don't like animating something unless it comes right. 2D seems SO much easier now that I've done claymation I realise I can undo in animation. I can trace the previous frame, hold it, change the lighting, sharpen a line, it's all so much easier. Phew. Claymation ki jai ho! Vaibhav, I bow down to your talents. Have no idea how claymation studios - esp. studios like Aardman do it. They must be really patient people. The camera man is boring, but you have to pay good attention to the minute details - cracks in the clay, armatures being seen, shadows cast or moved. Overall the team has t...

Scrap

As the bus rattled on the potholes of the city road, I heard a clinging in the pocket of the conductor.. I looked around in the dim yellow light, and felt a vision. A tiny silver coin under some seat of this bus was waiting, waiting to be picked up by a man as it glimmered in the darkness of a corner.

Scrap

Punk was worrying about going to Hadapsar when we had some much more work to do.. She had to get her passport snaps clicked and there's no civilization around us. Days passed, but the workload never became less. It only increased, and we just had to keep working day and night. Occasionally I strummed on my guitar n got the song 'Broken' by Seether (Feat Amy Lee) right. I was so glad.. Playing the guitar got rid of some of my huge amount of stress. Each day got depressing, and we just slogged and slogged. The faculty kept on pushing our patience. It was mental torture to even think of the work that we had to submit. Deadlines turned shorter, and life seemed pointless to me. Punk and I individually got thoughts, that maybe we both weren't even made for design. I kept on dreading that my future would go to the dogs and I would be chucked out of college for all my late submissions. Even though we had so much to talk about, Punk and I silently kept our thoughts to ourselves....
